Wren
We recetly worked closely with Floc Studio to deliver the fit-out of Wren , a new neighbourhood bar located just along the road from our studio in Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne. Having previously collaborated with Floc Studio on the Cook House and Long Friday restaurant fit-outs, we were delighted to be asked to return to the unit next door to Cook House and help our friends create this next chapter - a relaxed, drinks-led space sitting directly alongside its neighbour.
Conceived as a natural extension of Cook House, Wren provides a complementary offer of drinks and small snacks, with an interior defined by warmth, clarity of material, and a strong graphic language. Iroko cladding lines the walls, while iroko and rattan grid panels introduce rhythm, texture, and diagonal patterning - subtly referencing the modernist furniture and architectural language of Marcel Breuer. The palette draws on rich, earthy tones and colours reminiscent of the mid-1970s, creating a space that feels both familiar and quietly distinctive.
Our scope included the design and fabrication of bespoke seating booths, providing comfort and intimacy within the bar, alongside the installation of a stainless steel bar top and carefully integrated signage. These elements work together to give the space a strong street presence while supporting its role as a welcoming, informal place to gather throughout the day and into the evening.
Delivered as a local project close to our own studio, Wren was a particularly rewarding collaboration. The project reflects our ongoing relationship with the team at Wren, Cookhouse, Long Friday and Floc Studio, and our commitment to supporting independent, community-focused venues through thoughtful design, fabrication, and craftsmanship.
