Terry Frost Building

Atrium Artwork for Matthew Jarratt and Alumno Group

We have worked with curator and arts commissioner Matthew Jarratt on a wide range of projects, often involving interpreting artwork in large format installations.

Developer Alumno sought permission from the family and estate to name their latest building after Sir Terry Frost, one of Britain's most influential abstract artists, who was a fellow at the University of Leeds and went on to teach at Leeds School of Art.

We were tasked with creating a giant sculptural interpretation of Terry's painting "Red, green and black," to adorn the atrium space in the new building.

The 3m x 5m piece was commissioned after the atrium was designed to require a complex installation design methodology, which includes an integrated winch and hoist system which enabled installation without any significant plant equipment.
