Get Carpark

Get Carpark Get Carpark Get Carpark

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the film Get Carter and to mark the year of its demolition, RASKL produced a coffee table whose design is a simplified and stylized scale form inspired by the Trinity Square car park which famously featured in, and is arguably one of the stars of the film.

Although the piece is a very clean and linear design, just enough of the key visual elements that made the original structure so striking have been retained to keep a relationship between the two. The use of a simple palette of materials and addition of an internal light source bring a 21st century aesthetic to a 20th century design icon.

The piece is made of American walnut, stainless steel, toughened glass and polycarbonate.

The concept for the piece was to create a seriously cool, while tongue in cheek celebration of the North East while avoiding exhausted and stereotypical icons such as the Tyne Bridge and Angel of the North etc., It is RASKL’s intention to invoke a humoured reaction in it’s audience and hopefully this piece will raise a smile, if not an eyebrow.
